Company Overview
Sonae is the single largest private employer in all of Portugal. Worten is Sonae's major electronics retail brand. Sonae set out to realize a strategic, multi-year business goal of building an eCommerce presence that would allow them to expand into the global marketplace. The platform had be be extremely scalable, integrate with legacy systems, and allow for internationalization of language and currency.
Role and Responsibilities
I partnered with senior leaders at Worten headquarters in Porto, Portugal to design the company's first mobile site. I worked closely with key decision makers, lending expertise in optimizing for mobile devices and for implementing best practices related to mobile design. I saw the project through to completion as a lead frontend developer, managing the frontend team and architecting the frontend development effort. Performance was a major consideration because of the range of devices and data plans in use by customers in Portugal.
