Company Overview

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) owns and operates the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC), The Lawn on D Powered by Citizens Bank, the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. and the Boston Common Garage. In 2015, the MCCA hosted 262 events at the BCEC and Hynes with 724,292 attendees, generating 632,433 hotel room nights and $784 million in economic impact.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Custom Java Application: Designed and developed custom Java-based event management application, which employees from throughout the organization utilize in their day-to-day activities. For example, designed a tool that allows event managers to select meeting rooms from a map view, then book those rooms to an event. Continued by implementing the frontend code for the room booking feature.

  • Native iOS Apps: Worked with stakeholders across the organization to design native iPad and iPhone applications leveraging the existing custom Java application. Enabled event managers and other event organizers to access key workflows while walking around the facility, rather than being tied to their desktop machines. Worked with the development team to build and launch the iOS applications, which are now used by MCCA professionals daily.
